(© Joseph Marzullo/Retna) | Fiona Shaw will reprise her acclaimed performance of T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land at Wilton's Music Hall, from December 30 - January 10. Deborah Warner has directed the production, which was first seen at Wilton's in 1997, after it had premiered at New York's Liberty Theatre in 1996.
Eliot's epic poem was published in 1922. It is over 430 lines long and broken into five sections, containing many phrases that have since entered common usage, such as its opening line, "April is the cruellest month", and "I will show you fear in a handful of dust."
Shaw is currently playing the title role in Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage, also directed by Warner. Other Shaw-Warner collaborations include Samuel Beckett's Happy Days and Euripides' Medea.
